Project 2 “After talk”

Lesson 1：In addition to the singulars, plurals, and 3rd person singular pronouns,

In addition to the singulars, plurals, and 3rd person singular pronouns, Eagles also practiced pronouns like “you”, “we”, and “they” as well as negative sentences, so we were able to say things like “They’re not wearing gray socks.”
Eagles will also be working on a team of villians that their superheroes will fight against, which will give them the opportunity to practice these additional grammar points.

今回のレッスンでは、「単数形・複数形」や「3人称の代名詞（HeやShe）」に加えて、さらにステップアップして “you”（あなた）、“we”（私たち）、“they”（彼ら・彼女ら）といった代名詞の練習にも取り組みました！あわせて「否定文（〜ではない）」の形も学んだことで、“They’re not wearing gray socks.”（彼らはグレーの靴下を履いていません）といった、より詳しく説明する複雑なフレーズも言えるようになりました。これからEaglesクラスのみんなは、自分たちのスーパーヒーローが戦う「悪者のチーム（ヴィランズ）」を考えていく予定です。この活動を通して、今回学んだ新しい文法をさらにたくさん使って練習するチャンスを作っていきます！

Eagles learned some even more super abilties, like “lift cars” and “see through walls”, and then practiced these along with the negatives to make sentences like “I can’t turn invisible.” or “They can’t talk to animals.”
They added a limitation to their heroes abilities, in addition to the abilities of their villians to their project work.

今回のレッスンでは、“lift cars”（車を持ち上げる）や “see through walls”（壁を透視する）といった、さらに強力なスーパーパワー（超能力）の言葉を学びました！そして、これらの言葉を「否定形（〜できない）」と組み合わせて、“I can’t turn invisible.”（私は透明人間にはなれないよ）や “They can’t talk to animals.”（彼らは動物とは話せないんだ）といった文章を作る練習にも挑戦しました。プロジェクトの制作活動では、自分たちのスーパーヒーローの能力に「ちょっぴり苦手なこと（限界・弱点）」を設定しました。あわせて、ライバルとなる悪者（ヴィランズ）たちの能力についても考えて、作品集に書き加えました。

Eagles added in some additional healthy foods like persimmons and cauliflower, and, like in previous weeks, practied negative sentences with additional pronouns. We made sentences like “She doesn’t like raisins.” or “We don’t like zucchini.”
For the additional project work, they wrote about a food their hero doesn’t like, and what their villians do and don’t like to eat.

今週のレッスンでは、“persimmon”（かき）や “cauliflower”（カリフラワー）など、少し珍しい健康的な食べ物の名前を新しく学びました！そして、これまでの週と同じように、いろいろな代名詞（SheやWeなど）を使った「否定文（〜が好きではない）」の練習にも取り組みました。“She doesn’t like raisins.”（彼女はレーズンが好きではありません）や “We don’t like zucchini.”（私たちはズッキーニが好きではありません）といった、主語に合わせて形が変わる少し難しい文章にも上手に挑戦できました。プロジェクトの制作活動では、自分たちのヒーローが「苦手な食べ物」について書きました。さらに、ライバルである悪者（ヴィランズ）たちが「好きな食べ物」と「嫌いな食べ物」についても、英語でしっかりと書き起こしました。

As we’ve been doing throughout the project, Eagles practiced the same phrase but with more vocabulary, the added grammar for negative sentences and additional pronouns. They were able to make sentences about their heroes and villains like “She doesn’t like to play rugby.” and “They don’t like to knit.”

このプロジェクトを通じてずっと練習してきたように、今週も同じ基本フレーズをベースにしながら、さらに新しい単語を増やし、否定文やいろいろな代名詞を組み合わせた高度な練習に取り組みました！子どもたちは、自分たちのスーパーヒーローや悪者（ヴィランズ）について、“She doesn’t like to play rugby.”（彼女はラグビーをするのが好きではありません）や “They don’t like to knit.”（彼らは編み物をするのが好きではありません）といった、ちょっぴり複雑な文章も上手に作れるようになりました。

Eagles continued to practice the negatives and more pronouns, and were able to make sentences like “He isn’t patient.” and “We aren’t stubborn,” which they used to describe themselves, their heroes and their pack of villains.

高学年クラス（Eagles）では、引き続き否定文とさまざまな代名詞（主語）の練習を重ねました！今週は、自分自身やヒーロー、そして彼らが率いる悪役グループ（pack of villains）の性格や特徴について、以下のような文章を作ることができるようになりました。「He isn’t patient.（彼は気が長くありません / 我慢強くありません）」「We aren’t stubborn.（私たちは頑固ではありません）」主語が単数（He）か複数（We）かによって、動詞の形を「isn’t」と「aren’t」に正しく使い分けるという、より高度な文法表現にチャレンジしています！

Eagles learned more cool super-items, from headwear to throwing stars. As we’ve been doing each week, they practiced negatives sentences with more pronouns like “We don’t have throwing stars.” and “He doesn’t have a helmet.”

高学年クラス（Eagles）では、ヘッドギア（headwear）から手裏剣（throwing stars）にいたるまで、ヒーローが使うかっこいいスーパーアイテムの語彙をさらにたくさん学びました！そして毎週の積み重ね通り、今週もさまざまな代名詞（主語）を組み合わせた**「持っていない」を表す否定文**の練習を行いました。子どもたちは、以下のような文章を上手に作ることができています。「We don’t have throwing stars.（私たちは手裏剣を持っていません）」「He doesn’t have a helmet.（彼はヘルメットを持っていません）」主語が「We」のときは「don’t」、「He」のときは「doesn’t」になるという、高学年ならではの文法ルールをしっかりと意識しながら練習に励んでいます！

Special Lesson 2：The theme for our special lesson this week was “Think outside of the box,”

The theme for our special lesson this week was “Think outside of the box,” so it was all about being creative! We used the book “Not a Box” as inspiration to get us thinking, and did a bunch of creative thinking activities. We turned some simple shapes like squares, circles and lines into a whole variety of interesting things. We looked at abstract ink blot paintings and tried to imagine what they might look like, and then we made our own! Have a look and see what you think they look like. We also played a cooperative drawing game where teammates take turns adding to a drawing and then hope it’s clear enough to be guessed.

今週のスペシャルレッスンのテーマは「Think outside of the box（型にはまらない自由な発想をしよう！）」。つまり、クリエイティブ（創造的）になることが主役の一週間でした！子どもたちの思考を刺激するために、絵本『Not a Box（邦題：きみのはこじゃない）』からインスピレーションをもらい、さまざまなクリエイティブ思考のアクティビティに挑戦しました。四角や丸、線といったシンプルな図形を、子どもたちの手でまったく新しい、多種多様で面白いものへと変身させました。また、抽象的なインクの染みの絵（インクブロット）を見て「何に見えるか」を想像し、最後には自分たちだけのインク染みアートを作りました！ぜひお家で作品をご覧になって、何に見えるかお子様と一緒に考えてみてくださいね。さらに、チームメイトが順番に描き足していき、それが何を描いたものか当ててもらう「協力お絵描きゲーム」も行いました。みんな自分の意図が伝わるよう、ハラハラドキドキしながら楽しんでいました！

Lesson 7：Lesson 7 was, as always, our review lesson,

Lesson 7 was, as always, our review lesson, so we went through all the vocabulary and phrases we’ve learned in this project. During the project we’ve learned many ways to talk about ourselves and other people by focusing on creating our own unique superheroes. Our game this week was based on Jeopardy, a popular American quiz show.
We also did our second round of ondoku checks. Well done to everyone who’s been practicing and was able to pass the step they were aiming for!

レッスン7は、いつものように復習のレッスンでした！このプロジェクトで学んだすべての語彙やフレーズをしっかりとおさらいしました。今回のプロジェクトでは、自分だけのユニークなスーパーヒーロー作りに焦点を当てながら、自分自身や他の人について表現するさまざまな方法を学んできました。今週挑戦したゲームは、アメリカで大人気のクイズ番組をベースにした「Jeopardy（ジェパディ）」です。みんなこれまでの学習を思い出しながら、白熱したクイズバトルを楽しみました！また、今回は2回目の「音読チェック（ondoku checks）」も実施しました。お家などでコツコツ練習を重ね、自分が目標にしていたステップ（級や段階）に見事合格できた皆さん、本当によく頑張りました！（Well done!）

Lesson 8：This was the final lesson of our “My Superhero” project,

This was the final lesson of our “My Superhero” project, so we spent some time reviewing and playing some games, and then prepared for our peer project display. Students got a chance to present the awesome superheroes they came up with to each other, and now they’ll take them home so you can have a look and ask your children about them at home!

今回で、楽しかった「マイ・スーパーヒーロー（My Superhero）」のプロジェクトもいよいよ最終回を迎えました！レッスンでは、これまでの復習を兼ねていくつかのゲームを楽しんだ後、クラスメイトとお互いの作品を見せ合う「プロジェクト発表会（peer project display）」の準備を行いました。発表会では、子どもたち一人ひとりが、自分で考えた最高にカッコいいスーパーヒーローをクラスのみんなに向けて堂々と発表することができました！これまでに作った素敵な作品はお家に持ち帰りますので、ぜひご家庭でじっくりとご覧になり、「どんなスーパーヒーローを作ったの？」とお子様にインタビューしてみてくださいね！
